IRVINGTON REFRESH

Nestled in the Irvington district of Portland, these clients have amazing taste, a preference for modern design, and a beautiful historic Craftsman home. Our goal was to be sensitive of the home’s 1908 character, while blending in contemporary touches. As avid home cooks, they wanted a kitchen that is functional and timeless, highlighting the range as the heart of the space. The project’s most considerable update was relocating the basement stair, which once consumed the southwest corner of the kitchen. Moving the stair gave us an open floor plan that could accommodate a larger breakfast nook, more daylight, and direct access to the back garden. The space is now fully equipped for cooking, socializing, and enjoying the family’s extensive music collection. Adjacent to the kitchen, a new back entry sequence boasts a coffee bar, bookcase display, mudroom, and powder bath.
