LAKE OSWEGO ARTIST’S RESIDENCE

We get a lot of calls from homeowners wanting to add rooms to keep up with their growing families. This was a fun design challenge in reverse. After living here for 20 years and raising four children, these empty nesters knew it was time for a change. After spending years trying to find a lot to build a ground up house that met these new needs the couple changed direction and decided that they loved their location and history with their home but that they needed to reimagine it. That was when they called us.

An important goal for this new life chapter was creating a home with an open floor plan and an edited sereneness to it.  The homeowners dreamed of a simple loft like feel for the main floor.  Something that flowed easily, but that also retained the individual integrity of the rooms and their functions.  We took this directive and moved rooms and walls around, creating flow and connectiveness.  The interior finishes were stripped off and new crisp, tailored ones were brought in.  The material palette was kept light, but warm. And now an airy, bright home for two was created.
