JOHNSON RESIDENCE

Everyone has a vision of what “home” means to them.  This client had one that is still a favorite of ours.  Since she was a little girl she wanted to live in a light filled, cozy home for one.  It needed to feel special and hover above the neighborhood, almost a treehouse feel.  It needed to have large eaves, but blend with the neighborhood. Rooms were redefined. There is no dedicated bedroom, but a sleeping berth and a screened in porch with a napping nook.  A tiny kitchen lives large since it opens to both eating and hanging out spaces.  Interior windows, multi-level porches and a stairway with children books tucked under it round out the client’s dream list. Thinking of flexibility, we placed all her needs on the top floor of this two story custom home and created a rentable ADU on the lower floor that doubles as overflow space.
