FOREST PARK FOURSQUARE

From top to bottom this turn of the century Portland home needed to be re-imagined and refreshed for a young family of four. The challenge was to do that without losing the heritage qualities that they loved in their home. The key was opening it up by removing or relocating room clogging elements like a second staircase and a large masonry fireplace located smack in the middle of the house. Brought back in were a mix of painted and natural elements that ground the house in history, but with a fresh twist. The house also needed an elegant yet playful touch as shown with the reused orange industrial box placed as the kitchen island and whitewashed wood walls that lead to the attic space.
